Shoulder, Elbow & Throwing Performance

Baseball Rehab & Performance

One plan for the full return: calm the injury, rebuild the arm, restore throwing volume and intensity, then prepare for the demands of competition.

Why We're Different

Your rehab has to understand throwing

A throwing arm is adapted to extreme speed, range of motion, and workload. We evaluate it against the demands of baseball, then keep the plan moving until the athlete can tolerate high-intent throwing again.

Know what is normal

We separate useful throwing adaptations from the deficits that are actually limiting you.

Build more than pain relief

Shoulder, elbow, forearm, trunk, and lower-body capacity are trained together.

Own the throwing ramp

Velocity, workload, video, mound intensity, and recovery guide the return through full-effort bullpens.

Rehab Through Return to Sport

Feeling better is the start. Competing is the goal.

Pain relief and range of motion matter, but they do not recreate a season. We carry the plan into strength, power, throwing workload, mound intensity, and full-effort bullpens, then prepare a clean handoff for baseball development.

01

Restore the arm

Settle the injury, restore motion, and rebuild shoulder, elbow, forearm, and full-body capacity without letting the rest of your training disappear.

02

Build throwing capacity

Progress strength, power, plyometrics, and throwing intensity while tracking how the arm responds to each increase in stress.

03

Reach full-effort bullpens

Build mound intensity, pitch mix, role-specific volume, and recovery. Then hand current workload, velocity, and strength benchmarks to the athlete's next coach.

Driveline BaseballIndependent Practice Inside Driveline

One roof. Clear roles.

Athletic Potential is an independent physical therapy practice inside Driveline Baseball facilities in Kent and Tampa. We treat the injury, rebuild strength, manage throwing workload, and carry athletes through full-effort bullpen work.

We may address basic pitch shape or command when it helps guide rehab. Driveline's coaches, the athlete's team, or another pitching coach take the lead for detailed performance motion capture, live at-bats, pitch design, velocity development, command work, and hitting instruction.

Two-way players can begin Driveline hitting and strength training while we continue managing the throwing progression. Pitchers can finish their bullpen progression with us before moving into a Driveline pitching plan. Our Rehab Advantage Plan keeps the clinical side organized throughout that transition.

Athletes can also return to their team, a private coach, or another training facility. We send the current workload, velocity, and strength benchmarks with them.

The Return-to-Throwing Program

Throwing again is one milestone. Building the volume, intensity, pitch mix, recovery, and confidence required for competition is the full job. Our progression uses objective criteria instead of arbitrary timelines.

What athletes are saying

Michael Rucker
After finishing early rehab from Tommy John surgery, I knew I needed a place that went beyond the basics. Athletic Potential built a fully customized return-to-throw plan and continued rehab/performance program around my needs. The process was collaborative from start to finish, and I surpassed my goal, with my fastball back to 96 mph with my offspeed and breaking balls looking sharp.

Getting Started

Generally, no referral is needed to start. We operate as a cash-based practice with direct access, meaning you can schedule an evaluation without a physician referral in most circumstances. If imaging, a surgical consult, or additional documentation is needed, we can help coordinate that process.
Visit pricing varies by location and evaluation type. Because we are cash-based, every minute of your session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and treatment decisions are driven by your rehab plan rather than by what a reimbursement code allows.
Yes. We work with throwing athletes from age 12 through professional levels. Youth athletes can benefit from early intervention: building tissue capacity, managing workload as they grow, and screening for mechanical patterns that may contribute to localized tissue irritation before they become bigger problems.

Treatment & Recovery

The throwing motion is one of the fastest human movements. The humerus can internally rotate at over 7,000 degrees per second. General orthopedic protocols may focus primarily on the shoulder or elbow. We start with the injury equation: stress applied vs. tissue capacity. We assess workload history, build tissue capacity through progressive loading, track return-to-throw with velocity data alongside distance and effort, and screen for mechanical patterns that may contribute to localized tissue irritation.
It depends entirely on the injury and the individual. A mild UCL sprain might be 8-12 weeks. Post-Tommy John surgery is typically 12-18 months. We use objective criteria to determine when you advance through each phase.
Often, yes. Rehab is training in the presence of an injury. You will likely modify your throwing and upper body work, but we keep you loading your legs, conditioning, and building the movement patterns that support your return.

The Driveline Advantage

No. Athletic Potential is an independent physical therapy practice inside Driveline Baseball. We manage rehab and return to throw for our own patients. When an athlete is ready for hitting or pitching development, Driveline is one option alongside the athlete's team, private coach, or preferred training facility.
Athletic Potential manages the injured arm, strength, throwing workload, mound progression, and full-effort bullpens. We may address basic pitch shape or command when it helps guide rehab. Detailed motion capture, pitch design, velocity development, live at-bats, and hitting instruction are better handled by Driveline, the athlete’s team, or another coach. Two-way players may begin Driveline hitting and strength training while we continue managing their throwing progression.
